Hodgdon LIL'GUN Seems to work good for subs and supers. VihtaVuori N110 Sierra Lists for subs and super sonic loadings for 300 whisper. Powders that have been tested and tried by others. Powders that clearly work and have been tested thoroughly be AAC. This may be ongoing and won't necessarily be complete for a while. If you see something not right let me know, by also giving supporting reasoning. I may add notes to the original Post to each powder, with the understanding that sometimes what works for one gun combo may not work for another gun combo. This will not be for specific loads, although some may be listed, but will be broken down for supersonic powders, subsonic powders, powders that work for both, as well subsonic powders for bolt action and single shot, and may be broken down more as things progress. It is a beginning and the list will be adjusted and or modified as things progress. So this is going to be a List of powders that can be used in the 300 blk. Often powders that are way to slow to be used effectively in the 300 blk. They are constantly asking about powders. Once you get that sorted, then you get to have fun tuning loads for hot and cold weather. There tends to be a lot of newer 300 blk owners, and re-loaders joining lately, and I believe that will continue to grow. However, it is still possible that other bullets may still wobble, so I always shoot a few without suppressor with any new type/weight of bullets to be sure. I have a 7.5" 300 Blk pistol with 1:7 twist and it shoots the Hornady 225 grain ELD-Match bullets without issue (those bullets are longer than the 300 case itself). 1:8 should, but some of them on the upper end of the weight range could be iffy. A 1:7 twist will comfortable stabilize pretty much any bullet that'll fit in the 300 Blk. 1:8 is probably the most common twist rate for 300 Blk, but there are quite a few options for 1:7 and even 1:5 as well. Bullet length is the predominant factor when choosing a barrel twist rate. ![]() ![]() Heavier bullets typically mean longer bullets as well. ![]() For 300 Blk, you're looking at bullets in the 220 - 240 grain range for the top of the tier. Remember, subsonic rounds are constrained on velocity, so if you want to increase energy, the only way is with more mass (i.e. If they don't, then you need to get this fixed before shooting it. You might have to try different bullets/weights.Īlso, before shooting through your suppressor, either acquire a check rod or take your gun and suppressor to someone who does to ensure the suppressor bore and firearm bore align. Just because a certain bullet wobbles doesn't mean that others will. If the holes aren't round then the bullet isn't stable and you should not fire those rounds through your suppressor. ![]() Bullets that don't stabilize well or a misalignment of the suppressor bore with the firearm's bore.Īny time you get or have a firearm that has never had your suppressor on it, or any time you want to shoot a new bullet or load through it, the first thing to do is take it to the range with the specific cartridges you intend to use and shoot several rounds without the suppressor at a couple of distances, say 50 and 100 yards.Ĭheck the holes in the target to see if they are round, oval, or at worst, key holed. Several things cause baffle/end cap strikes.
